Latvia extends its participation in the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM Georgia)

Ministry of the Interior

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the term of participation in the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM Georgia) until May 12, 2027, for Major Dmitrijs Kosarevs, Senior Inspector of the Mission Participant Group within the International Affairs Division of the Cooperation and Development Bureau of the State Police Central Administrative Department.

EUMM Georgia is an unarmed monitoring mission that began its operations on October 1, 2008, following the agreement of August 12, 2008, between Russia and Georgia—where the EU acted as a mediator—and the decision adopted on September 8, 2008, regarding the European Security and Defence Policy. Its mandate is to contribute to the stabilization of the situation throughout Georgia and the surrounding region.
