Large-scale inter-agency tactical exercise held at the State Border Guard College with EU support

Ministry of the Interior

From October 7 to 9, practical inter-agency tactical cooperation exercises took place at the State Border Guard College, involving students and lecturers from the State Border Guard College, the State Police College, the Fire Safety and Civil Defence College, and the P. Stradiņš College of Medicine of the University of Latvia.

Practicing experts from the State Border Guard, the State Police, the Customs Department of the State Revenue Service, the Food and Veterinary Service, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, the Emergency Medical Service, and representatives of the Office of the Ombudsman also participated in the exercises.

Over the course of three days, the cooperation capabilities of the institutions involved in border management were tested, joint actions were analyzed, and inter-agency cooperation algorithms were improved. Feedback and joint analysis of the exercise process helped strengthen knowledge and improve preparation for effective action in emergency situations. The exercises provided future officers with the opportunity to improve their knowledge on the practical implementation of European integrated border management.

The exercises were organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Cooperation Capacity of Latvian Border Security Institutions for European Integrated Border Management” (VRK/RPVP/2025/3), approved under the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy for 2021–2027 and implemented by the State Border Guard College, with the Ministry of the Interior acting as the managing authority in Latvia.
