In order to develop the cloud computing services of the National Library of Latvia (NLL) within the framework of the national data processing cloud – the integration of the NLL data centre cloud computing service platform with the national data processing cloud, the government decided at its meeting on 23 January to allocate EUR 982,800 of Recovery and Resilience Facility funding to the NLL.
As a result of the implementation of the measure*, it is planned to ensure the interoperability of shared computing infrastructure services, ensuring the possibility of mutual reservation and dynamic computing capacity attraction. Virtualized computing infrastructure technologies can provide such capabilities both at the level of virtual servers and containerization management.
Computing infrastructure sharing service providers must develop their ICT infrastructures into cloud computing solutions that provide automated container management, which can effectively integrate with the state data processing cloud infrastructure, providing higher added value shared services.
The investment measure is planned to be implemented from the 1st quarter of this year to the 2nd quarter of 2025. The total amount of planned investments - from the Recovery and Resilience Facility financing – is EUR 982,800; state budget financing to cover VAT costs – EUR 185,750.
This investment measure was supported at the June 21, 2023 meeting of the thematic committee on digital transformation and modernization of administration.
