Government grants national interest object status to State Fire and Rescue Service buildings co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund

Ministry of the Interior

Today, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to grant the status of an object of national interest to the State Fire and Rescue Service infrastructure projects at 10 Krustpils Street and 3 Ķengaraga Street in Riga.

This decision was made to ensure the long-term development of the State Fire and Rescue Service's infrastructure.

Under the project, a new training complex for the Fire Safety and Civil Protection College at 10 Krustpils Street and a firefighting, logistics, and repair base complex at 3 Ķengaraga Street are scheduled to be established by the end of 2029.

The total funding for the project is 55.5 million euros, of which 47.2 million euros is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The status of an object of national interest will ensure the development of both projects in line with national security interests, facilitate effective spatial planning, and allow for the upgrading of infrastructure according to the needs of emergency services.

These projects will significantly strengthen the national civil protection system, enhance emergency service readiness, and foster the training of qualified specialists to manage various threats and crisis situations.
