Experience exchange visit to Romania! With EU support, Latvian experts enhance their expertise in border security

Within the framework of the EU co-funded project No. VRK/RPVP/2025/3 “Strengthening the cooperation and training capacity of border security agencies in Latvia for the effective implementation of European Integrated Border Management,” representatives of the State Border Guard, the State Border Guard College, and the State Police visited Romania from December 1–5, 2025, to study best practices in strategic, operational, and educational border management.

During the visit, the delegation visited the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Border Police and the National Coordination Centre, Henri Coandă International Airport, the General Inspectorate for Immigration, as well as the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy.

The visit was highly productive, providing the delegation with the opportunity to explore Romanian best practices in integrated border management. The knowledge gained and the contacts established will be used to strengthen European integrated management in Latvia, particularly focusing on inter-agency cooperation, training, and research mechanisms.
