EU Recovery Fund investments in safety! New disaster management center inaugurated in Alūksne

Ministry of the Interior

On August 26, a new disaster management center was officially inaugurated in Alūksne, bringing together several emergency services and interior sector institutions under one roof.

The new center will house the State Fire and Rescue Service, the State Police, the State Border Guard, the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, the State Provision Agency, and the State Emergency Medical Service.

The establishment of the center in Alūksne holds particular significance given the city's location in Latvia's eastern border region. Co-locating multiple services will foster closer daily cooperation, faster information exchange, and more coordinated action during both routine incidents and crisis or broader threat situations.

The new center will also provide modern working conditions tailored to the specific operational needs of the services, while strengthening response capabilities and public safety in the region.

The disaster management center in Alūksne was constructed with co-financing from the European Union Recovery Fund.
