With support from the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the Ministry of Agriculture has successfully completed the project "Development of the Agricultural Data Centre Cloud Computing Services within Latvia's National Federated Cloud". The project modernised the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure of the Rural Support Service and advanced the development of the State Data Processing Cloud. As a result, citizens, agricultural businesses and public authorities will benefit from more secure, reliable and accessible digital services.
The project established a modern and secure ICT environment through the modernisation of data centre infrastructure, the deployment of new data processing and storage technologies, and the integration of data centres with cloud services to ensure seamless interoperability. A self-service environment was also introduced, enabling users to manage and access ICT services more efficiently.
The project has contributed to the establishment of a unified ICT environment, enabling more efficient use of resources, enhancing the security of ICT systems and ensuring the reliable operation of digital services for citizens and public authorities. In total, seven new systems and platforms were implemented. The modernised environment provides more secure data storage and processing, faster and more reliable service delivery, and greater continuity and resilience of state information systems.
The project outcomes represent a significant contribution to Latvia's digital transformation and the further development of the State Data Processing Cloud. They support the creation of a unified, secure and flexible ICT environment for public administration institutions. By successfully achieving its objectives, the project has established a solid foundation for the continued development of state information systems. In the long term, the investments made with EU support will help ensure secure and accessible digital services for the people of Latvia.
The total cost of the project is EUR 3.76 million, of which EUR 3.1 million is financed by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The project was implemented under Investment 2.1.2.2.i "Latvia's National Federated Cloud" of the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility Plan as Project No. 2.1.2.2.i.0/1/24/I/VARAM/003 "Development of the Agricultural Data Centre Cloud Computing Services within Latvia's National Federated Cloud".
