EU co-funded security infrastructure also receives top honors at "Best Building in Latvia 2025"

Key infrastructure projects essential to national internal security honored at the "Best Building in Latvia 2025" competition.

Key Highlights:

• The infrastructure of the Latvian–Belarusian and Latvian–Russian border was named Engineering Structure of the Year, while disaster management centers in Daugavpils, Līvāni, and Madona secured 2nd place in the New Public Building category;

• The establishment of disaster management centers involves co-locating various emergency services under one roof, thereby enhancing inter-agency cooperation and response speed in crisis situations;

• Investments in infrastructure have increased employee satisfaction with their working environment, reaching 70.1% within the State Fire and Rescue Service;

• As part of the modernization program, more than 30 such centers will be constructed across Latvia by 2029, drawing on European Union funds and national budget resources.
