ERDF co-funding supports renovation and construction of pedestrian and cyclist Infrastructure near Daugavpils

Ministry of Transport

Renovation of the existing pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure has begun, as well as the construction of a new section of the main state road Russian border (Grebņeva)–Rēzekne–Daugavpils–Lithuanian border (Medumi) (A13) from Lociki to Daugavpils (Ezerkrasti) (129.39–134.72 km).

From Lociki to Vecstropi (129.39–133.66 km), a new illuminated pedestrian and cyclist path will be built, while on the section from Vecstropi to Ezerkrasti (133.66–134.72 km), the pavement of the existing path (built in 2008) will be renewed. In both sections, asphalt concrete surfacing will be laid, safety barriers installed, the drainage system improved, and culverts extended where necessary. Existing shelters will also be repaired, and benches and litter bins at the bus stops in Lociki, Lāči, Viadukts, Stropi, Daugavpils ceļinieks, and Vecstropi will be refurbished. At the intersection of the A13 and the Daugavpils highway (A6), a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights will be installed.

The works are carried out by Latgales Ceļdaris Ltd at a contract price of EUR 1,565,225.03 (incl. VAT). The project author is Projekts 3 Ltd, and construction supervision is provided by BPU&Ingway Ltd. The project is being implemented with co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), where ERDF covers 85% of the total costs.

Construction works are scheduled to be completed by June 2026, with a technological break planned during the winter season.
