Ministry of the Interior

On Friday, January 16, Liepāja will host the flag consecration ceremony for the State Border Guard patrol vessel "Bārta" and events marking the project's conclusion. The vessel was acquired within the framework of an EU-co-funded project. The events will be attended by the Minister of the Interior, Rihards Kozlovskis, and the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Dimitrijs Trofimovs.

Media representatives are invited to attend the events from 13:00 to 17:20. Please confirm your participation in advance by contacting Kristīne Pētersone, Senior Specialist of the Strategic Development and Public Relations Department of the State Border Guard (Mob: +371 28364592, E-mail: kristine.petersone@rs.gov.lv).

Through this project, the State Border Guard will significantly increase its ability to ensure higher maritime border surveillance standards and overall response capacity. These improvements are essential for the surveillance of the EU's external border and the ability to implement operational activities in accordance with the European Integrated Border Management concept.

The project will contribute to the implementation of the EU Security Union Strategy and protect fundamental rights and European values.

The project is implemented by the State Border Guard under the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy 2021–2027, for which the Ministry of the Interior is the Managing Authority in Latvia.
