Ministry of the Interior

On July 25, 2024, a launch event for the project "Strengthening the Capacity of the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova in the field of 'green' and 'blue' border control (LatMoldova)" took place at the Ventspils Border Guard Management of the State Border Guard.

Within the framework of the project, co-funded by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the State Border Guard, in cooperation with the State Border Guard College, will, over an 18-month period, enhance the skills and abilities of the personnel of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova by organizing various types of training for 57 officials of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, as well as improve the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova's provision of technical equipment for border surveillance. For this purpose, the Latvian State Border Guard will donate two coastal patrol boats, one vehicle specially equipped for transporting dogs, three service dogs, and canine equipment to its Moldovan partner.

The project will contribute to the implementation of the EU Security Strategy and will protect fundamental rights and European values.

This project is co-funded by the European Union under an agreement with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) through the Migration Partnership Facility.
