From 19 February, entrepreneurs have access to the new version of the business support platform business.gov.lv, which will become the single contact point for state-provided e-services for entrepreneurs and for those who are still planning to start a business.
The new version of business.gov.lv is the first step in creating a unified contact point for entrepreneurs within a broader development process that will continue until 2030, gradually expanding the range of services and digital solutions.
“The business environment must be clear, predictable and digitally accessible. We are systematically reducing administrative burden, and a single digital contact point is an important step in this direction. Entrepreneurs should not spend time searching for information across different institutions – the state must provide it in one place, clearly and conveniently. Business.gov.lv is the foundation of a modern, results-oriented public administration,” emphasises Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis.
“I would like to commend LIAA for its ambition and investment in providing a unified offer of state and municipal services needed in the daily activities of entrepreneurs, helping them receive public services more efficiently. I see Business.gov.lv as an assistant — a guide through the range of state and municipal services necessary for doing business. The platform offers a unique opportunity in Latvia: from the ‘entrepreneur’s perspective’ to quickly and easily identify and request the service needed in a specific business situation, without having to understand institutional responsibilities and service portfolios. Among other things, Business.gov.lv will help entrepreneurs navigate various formalities related to business life situations. I encourage entrepreneurs to try this new opportunity and provide feedback to the platform owner — LIAA — for further improvement. Together we can!” says Gatis Ozols, Deputy State Secretary for Digital Transformation at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.
“Until now, the business support platform business.gov.lv provided only the e-services of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), but today we take a step toward a unified digital contact point for entrepreneurs. In the new platform, entrepreneurs will be able to apply for the e-services they need from one place, according to their practical needs. Our goal is to make public administration more accessible and business-friendly,” emphasises LIAA Director Ieva Jāgere.
Unified digital contact point
Business.gov.lv has been developed with support from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility to make essential business information more accessible, understandable and structured. The platform will also help institutions comply with the EU Single Digital Gateway Regulation, which requires information about key business services to be available digitally and in a user-friendly way.
“Life-event” approach
The new version of business.gov.lv introduces improved search functionality and a “life-event” structure, enabling entrepreneurs to more quickly find the information needed for starting a business, development, daily management, or making changes in a company.
The platform compiles information on more than 600 state e-services, support programmes, consultations, licences and business requirements.
It will function as a unified service catalogue explaining all steps required to receive a service. A single login will allow users, after one authentication, to seamlessly move between services of LIAA, the State Revenue Service, the Register of Enterprises and other institutions.
Next steps
Further development of the platform includes expanding the service offering and introducing artificial intelligence tools to provide more personalised and user-adapted information. By 2030, business.gov.lv is planned to integrate all other relevant public services, turning it into a fully-fledged digital business environment.
About the project
The platform is implemented under the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility investment 2.1.2.1 “Digital service platform business.gov.lv” in close cooperation with public institutions and business representatives.
Its development is gradual — testing solutions, improving usability and adapting the platform to real business needs. Special attention has been given to user experience: entrepreneurs are actively involved in testing and providing feedback on usability.
The project “Digital service platform for business development promotion” is funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility (NextGenerationEU).
