Border surveillance is getting smarter! With EU support, the construction of modern technological infrastructure for border surveillance continues

A Smarter Border Means a Safer Latvia.

As part of the project "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure," the construction of modern technological infrastructure on the Latvian–Belarusian and Latvian–Russian borders continues, progressively establishing a unified and efficient border surveillance system.

To date, 173 kilometers of the border have been fully designed; the construction of the first-phase infrastructure is nearing completion, and the routing for the second-phase engineering networks has been fully constructed. Each completed section strengthens the State Border Guard's capability to monitor Latvia’s—and simultaneously the European Union’s—external border more effectively, detect potential violations in a timely manner, and respond promptly to modern security challenges.

The project is implemented by the State Border Guard in cooperation with the State Joint-Stock Company "Latvian State Radio and Television Center" and the Provision State Agency under the Border Management and Visa Instrument, for which the Ministry of the Interior is the managing authority in Latvia.

The project is co-funded by the European Union. The State Border Guard is responsible for the content of this publication.
