Boosting rescue power through effective EU funding: the State Fire and Rescue Service thanked by CFCA for professional collaboration

Ministry of the Interior

The Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) has expressed its appreciation to the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) for its high level of professionalism and the effective administration of European Union (EU) funds in strengthening national security.

Today, Edgars Kalbergs, Director of the CFCA Department for Innovation and Regional Development Projects, presented a certificate of appreciation to the SFRS leadership, highlighting the service's ability to ensure constructive and successful cooperation in the implementation of large-scale projects.

The SFRS's swift action at the end of last year, when a payment request for 83 million euros was submitted, was particularly highly commended. This step not only significantly strengthened Latvia's progress toward achieving its national financial targets but also demonstrated the service's capacity to manage substantial EU fund investments.

This 83 million euros is more than just a statistical figure – it represents tangible work and modern equipment. These are investments in the safety of our country's residents, implemented within the framework of the project 'Purchase of Special Firefighting and Rescue Vehicles'.

Thanks to the targeted EU funding support, SFRS continues to modernize its fleet with modern and specifically adapted rescue vehicles, improving response times and the efficiency of rescuers throughout the territory of Latvia.

The Ministry of the Interior joins in thanking the SFRS team for their responsible approach and their ability to realize projects of national importance by utilizing the development opportunities provided by the EU.
