Adapting to the latest EU standards! A major EU co-funded project launched for the renovation of the asylum seekers’ accommodation center

Ministry of the Interior

The Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, in close cooperation with the State Provision Agency, has launched a significant European Union co-funded project to further strengthen Latvia’s capacity to provide high-quality and modern reception for asylum seekers.

This project represents a strategic step toward aligning Latvia’s infrastructure with international standards. By the end of 2029, the following objectives are planned:

  • Technical Renovation: Improving the condition of the asylum seekers’ accommodation center buildings to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability;

  • Implementation of New Standards: Adapting premises and processes to meet the requirements of the new Migration and Asylum Pact, which facilitates more efficient and humane procedures;

  • Modernization of Equipment: Purchasing state-of-the-art technical equipment and inventory necessary for the operational continuity and enhanced security of the centers.

These ambitious changes serve as a testament to Latvia’s commitment to creating an organized and secure migration environment based on the best European practices.
