In an emergency situation, when you have to call the single emergency number 112, we are focused on the disaster itself because you have to explain where and what happened, as well as provide any additional necessary information. But... Have you ever wondered who you are talking to, what the dispatchers' work and daily life are really like, what a dispatcher must be able to do, and, in the end, maybe you could become the person who is the first step in providing help?

In September, we want to introduce you to three dispatchers from the State Fire and Rescue Service's 112 Contact Center and give you a glimpse into their stories (in Latvian): https://www.112.lv/lv/raksts/361/iepazisties-112-kontaktu-centra-dispeceres?fbclid=IwY2xjawM4sKxleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETBxTGoxSFNHMVBlUlh6cFV1AR4VM_iq8HFhLjb7M7rq2NzOGI7ijZ8qRU49EtKiHTLPrOa0QFqiO7kiSI1LOA_aem_j_PcKnNtaXBUKXFWSRJNRA&objects_path=lv%2Fraksts%2F361%2Fiepazisties-112-kontaktu-centra-dispeceres.

The single emergency number 112, which has become an integral part of our security system, was created thanks to the support of the European Union.

Its establishment and modernization were co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. This support allowed for the creation of a centralized and technologically advanced system capable of ensuring effective communication with all emergency services – firefighters, police, medics, and other rescuers. Thus, the funding from the European Regional Development Fund was crucial for implementing a modern emergency call system in Latvia that meets European standards and provides residents with fast and professional assistance in any critical situation.
