Opening ceremony for the "Solar Park for Self-Consumption of Electricity at the NLL"

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) invites the public, partners, and media representatives to a press conference on July 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot on the NLL grounds at 5 Mūkusalas Street, Riga, to provide information on the conclusion of the European Union (EU) Recovery Fund project “Solar Park for Self-Consumption of Electricity at the NLL”.

The following individuals will participate in the press conference:

• Nauris Puntulis, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Latvia;

• Jurģis Miezainis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia;

• Andris Kužnieks, Head of the European Commission Delegation to Latvia;

• Juris Ģiedris, Director of the NLL’s Facilities Management Department and Project Manager for the EU Recovery Fund project “Solar Park for Self-Consumption of Electricity at the NLL.”

The goal of the European Union (EU) Recovery Fund project “Solar Park for Self-Consumption of Electricity at the NLL” is to make investments in the infrastructure of the NLL building and its grounds in Riga, at 5 Mūkusalas Street, to achieve a reduction of at least 30% in primary energy consumption.

Project funding: 1,705,495 euros, of which 1,428,864.16 euros comes from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility and 276,630.84 euros from the state budget.
